MouseImp 7.0.0.5 – Windows 7 and x64 support

The all-new MouseImp 7 is released! Now supporting all 32-bit and x64 builds of Windows 7 and Vista, working in IE8/IE9 Protected Mode and scrolling all windows of the office suite, the new MouseImp is the tool to get. Ivan Keluh and Alexander Malofeev are the ones to thank for the new release.

Download the 32-bit version here, or get an x64 installer here.

Note: even if you’re using a 64-bit version of Windows, the MouseImp x32 will still work there. It will scroll all 32-bit and 64-bit application windows, with one exception: in 64-bit apps only, the mouse cursor will not turn into a scrolling hand. If the majority of your applications are 64-bit, get MouseImp x64; otherwise, the 32-bit version will more than suffice. (Personally, I’m using a 32-bit build of MouseImp on my Windows 7 x64).

Another note: please uninstall the old version of MouseImp first. Updates are currently not supported due to a lot of major changes in the new app.

What is MouseImp?

MouseImp PRO is a successor of MouseImp that became popular all over the world. Many users’ wishes were considered in this new version of MouseImp, and many improvements have been implemented, making it even faster and more reliable. Hope you’ll like it, and its unique features will make your work easier and more productive.

Update: a 64-bit version is on the way…

MouseImp is a handy tool that helps you to use your conventional mouse more efficiently. The AutoShrink feature increases your available workspace by removing toolbars from the screen so that only caption bars remain. To access a toolbar, just point to its caption, and it will be restored immediately. The Direct Scroll feature makes it easier to scroll through windows. Instead of using a scroll bar, you can activate MouseImp and scroll by moving the mouse up or down anywhere in the window.

MouseImp also gives you the ability to shrink windows temporarily.

On IE8 Support

I figured out why MouseImp works for some IE8 users and does not work for others. The trick is that it’s only possible to use MouseImp in IE7 and IE8 if Protected Mode is disabled in Internet Explorer. Not going into much details on what this mode is and why it is advisable to keep it enabled, here’s how to turn it off: IE8-Tools-Internet Options-Security-Enable Protected Mode (uncheck).

Final: Microsoft Office 2007 Support

It’s been a while since the last update of MouseImp. This new final version of MIPro.DLL supports several Office 2007 applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and some windows in MS Outlook.

Office 2007 support has now been tested, and I included it with the main application. Download and install MouseImp from http://www.mouseimp.com/MIProLive.exe.
